3 tips for healthy exercise

Exercise ie realy good for you!

Exercise helps to tone up your muscles but does not increase your protein mass. The quantity of protein within the muscle is the same whether it is toned up or not. Your muscles will always have the same composition, whether or not you exercise. If you exercise the muscles become flabby, and if you overeat, you build fatty tissue up around them. That is the reason why muscles can feel as if they are changing to fat if you stop exercising for a while.

Walking briskly is the best exercise and doesn't require time out to go to the gym.

If you walk for 2 hours a day, this can help you to lose more than a pound each week (provided your intake of food remains about the same).

To tone up your cardiovascular system and burn calories, you have to use your big muscles -those below the waist, which represent 75 or 80 per cent of your total muscle mass. Walking does this.

Walking has the following advantages:

* it exercises the whole body and involves all the muscles, especially if you get a rhythm going and swing your arms freely.

* You lose weight from all over your body because when you exercise your muscles send out hormonal signals to every fat cell inside you. These cells release fat molecules into the bloodstream, which takes them into the working muscles to be used as fuel. So you draw evenly on your total reserves not just on the fat near the muscle being exercised.

* Walking toughens your muscles and gives them greater endurance without building up unsightly muscles.

So walking is a great way to tone up, lose weight and keep fit. If you don't normally walk much then it should help you to lose body fat fast and you can incorporate it into your normal lifestyle. Try parking a little further away from the office, church or shops. Just a few extra minutes of walking a day will be really beneficial and if you really like it you could join a club and go out on recreational walks at the weekend.
